How Voicebiota Ltd handles your data. Last updated 3 June 2026.

1. Who we are

Voicebiota Ltd ("Voicebiota", "we", "us") is a company registered in England & Wales. Registered office: 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. For privacy enquiries: privacy@voicebiota.com.

We are the data controller for personal data processed in connection with the BIOTA1 device, mobile app and this website.

2. On-device by design

BIOTA1 extracts voice biomarkers entirely on-device. Raw audio never leaves your phone. Only derived, non-reversible biomarker values are synced (encrypted in transit and at rest) when you choose to enable cloud backup.

3. Data we collect

  • Account data: email, name, password hash.
  • Order data: shipping address, billing details, device serial.
  • Derived biomarkers: numeric features such as jitter, shimmer, HRV proxies — no audio.
  • Diagnostic data: crash logs, anonymised app events.
  • Website analytics: page, referrer, coarse location, user agent.

4. Legal bases (UK/EU GDPR)

Contract (to fulfil your order and provide the app), legitimate interest (security, fraud prevention, product improvement), consent (optional analytics, marketing) and legal obligation (tax, accounting).

5. Sharing

We share data only with processors that help us operate the service: Stripe (payments), our cloud hosting provider, email delivery, and shipping carriers. We never sell personal data.

6. Retention

Account and biomarker data is kept while your account is active and for up to 12 months after closure. Invoices are kept for 7 years to meet UK statutory requirements.

7. Your rights

Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection and the right to withdraw consent. Contact privacy@voicebiota.com. You may also complain to the UK ICO (ico.org.uk).

8. International transfers

Where data is transferred outside the UK/EEA we rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses.

9. Changes

We will post any material changes on this page and, where required, notify you by email.
